S.K.A.T.E. Program

S.K.A.T.E. Recognition Night - Canceled Tonight - Rescheduled for Saturday, February 20th, 2010

  •   All S.K.A.T.E participants (except those who attend SACS or play high school hockey) should either e-mail or mail their 2nd quarter/1st semester report card to Nancy Scott (all comments may be blacked out, the 2nd quarter/1st semester G.P.A should be present – 3.0 is the GPA requirement).  E-mail wheel197@umn.edu or send to 677 Stonebrooke Drive, Shakopee, MN  55379 by Friday,  February 5, 2010.
  • Sorry, we are not able to accept snapshots of ties/school view in lieu of the student athlete’s report card.
  • Please note, if your student athlete attends SACS the school will verify your student athlete qualifies in lieu of forwarding a report card.  Additionally if your student athlete  plays on the high school hockey team the HS athletic office will verify student athlete qualification for these players in lieu of having to forward report cards to the SKATE Coordinator.
  • All qualifying S.K.A.T.E players should check-in at the gymnasium in the Community Center between 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. before the Shakopee Boys’ Varsity hockey game v. New Prague.
  •  S.K.A.T.E players will receive entry into the game free with paid adult, compliments of the Shakopee High School Athletic Department.  Parents please provide appropriate supervision of your player during the game.
  •   Bring your camera!  All S.K.A.T.E. players will be recognized on the ice between the 2nd and 3rd period.   All S.K.A.T.E players with qualifying G.P.A will be entered into our association's drawing for prizes which will take place the evening of Saturday, February 20th, 2010.

Sign up for the S.K.A.T.E. 2009-2010 Season!

This year the Shakopee Hockey Association is proud to partner with Minnesota Hockey Journal and offer our players the opportunity to participate in the S.K.A.T.E. (Skaters Keep Achieving through Education) program.  This program is meant to recognize and reward the efforts of student athletes who play hockey.

All hockey players on U10, U12, Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam are eligible to sign-up for the S.K.A.T.E. program by e-mailing Nancy Scott at wheel197@umn.edu.   By signing up for the S.K.A.T.E. program the student athlete is committing to work towards a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher during the 1st semester or 2nd quarter of the 2009-2010 academic year.

If the student athlete obtains a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher for the 1st semester or 2nd quarter they are qualifiers and become eligible to partcipate in the association's recognition night scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2010.  Additionally qualifying student athletes are entered in a statewide sweepstakes presented by Minnesota Hockey Journal.  Special Education students may qualify with a letter from their case manager stating they showed above average performance.

SYHA S.K.A.T.E. wishes to thank our generous 2008-2009 program sponsors!
